Specialty
Agents
of Florida
Since our official incorporation organization in 1989, Specialty
Agents has taken an aggressive role in representing agent issues
with both the legislature and the Department of Insurance.
Against considerable opposition, we convinced the legislature to
pass a $10 PIP application fee, an MVR cost reimbursement fee and
the bad check cancellation provisions.
Our two main initiatives, an expanded application fee and disclosure
requirements for the sale of ancillary products, continue to be our
legislative targets. After only 10 years, Specialty Agents has grown to
be a force in Tallahassee and a
formidable advocate for agent rights.
In 1996,
Specialty Agents joined with our sister associations in California,
Georgia, Texas and other interested agents throughout the US forming the
National Auto Agents Alliance. The group was formed to fight for
agent issues at the national level and to assist other states in
organizing local organizations to fight local battles for their agent
members.
The
mission of Specialty Agents is to improve the professionalism and
financial standing of our member agents in Florida while serving the
needs of Florida's consumer motoring public. We work to
accomplish those goals through education of our members, improved
public awareness of the value of an agent, legislative
initiatives and aggressive interaction with the Department of
Insurance.
